The first major site that we visited was the Eiffel Tower, in Paris France. This was actually my first time leaving the country, so I was pretty worried about landing in a foreign country. I had done as much research as possible, and just hoped that I wouldn’t get mugged or something. Learn more about that first trip here.
So, to answer the question burning in your mind – “is it worth the trip?” YES. Now, I don’t say that lightly, there are many places that have come highly recommended, that were honestly just the worst. For a list of those places, click here. The Eiffel Tower, more correctly called the “Tour Eiffel” in France, is absolutely stunning. It is everything that you ever dreamed of as a kid. Nothing could really have prepared me for how big it really is. The odd thing is that due to perspective, when you first surface in Paris, you might not be able to see it. That is because, similar to New York, there are buildings everywhere. So, one will most likely be blocking your view at first.
The best place to go for your first view of the tower is the Trocadero metro station. When you exit the station, head to the Trocadero square, where you will have a clear, largely unobstructed view. Be warned though, there are thousands of other people also wanting the great view, so that is always something to think about. There are many great places to view the tower from, but this is one of the most popular.
